PREY BOUND
WHO WE ARE
Prey Bound is a two-piece alternative/progressive metal project formed in March 2026, currently consisting of Psyren (me) on lead vocals and songwriting and Drew Lehman on production, composition, and multi-instrumentation.
We’re based between Western Kentucky and Northern Indiana.
At the heart of Prey Bound is the belief that strength and vulnerability are not mutually exclusive. Our music challenges the identities we inherit, the roles we assume, and the cycles we unconsciously perpetuate. It explores the contradictions of human nature. Can the predator become a prisoner of its own instincts? Can the prey discover its own power?
This naturally connects much of our work with themes of mental health, identity, growth, accountability, and empowerment.
Though we are only a two-piece at this time, we are not letting that stop us from hitting the stage! While we do intend to build a full musician lineup, we are currently preparing for the ability to perform live to backing tracks as needed with a focus on the Indianapolis, Nashville, and Louisville, and surrounding regional markets.
We’re still a very new project, but we’ve been deliberate about building both the music and the infrastructure around it, and we’re excited about the momentum we’re beginning to see.

THE STORM
Origins
Throughout Origins, the storm serves as a central visual metaphor for the emotional and psychological forces that shape the human experience. At the center stands a faceless female figure, evolving alongside the chaos that surrounds her. Across the artwork, both the woman and the storm undergo subtle transformations, reflecting the ever-changing relationship between our inner world and the circumstances that shape us.
Each track features original artwork by Danielle Traub, DeeTeeArt LLC
Mantis
Provenance
The word “mantis” comes from a Greek word that means “prophet” or “seer” inspired by the insect's notorious posture, with its front legs appearing to be folded in prayer. It has been featured in the mythology and traditions of various cultures from around the globe with several common characteristics: sacredness and divinity, good fortune, and in many it represents an entity that helps guide the lost home and provides spiritual insight. In the natural world, the Praying Mantis is considered ferocious, a high-precision ambush predator, a highly efficient killer. What a dichotomy…
UPCOMING PROJECTS AND EVENTS:
PROVENANCE - EP2
In contrast to our first EP, Origins, which captured the emergence of our developing sound through the lense of various kinds of experiences, both internal and external, our second EP is much more cohesive in both concept and identity. Exploring themes of generational trauma, inherited behavior patterns, female autonomy, and the struggle to reclaim power without perpetuating the systems that once denied it.
At its heart Provenance asks a fundamental question: Are we destined to become what shaped us, or can we choose what we become? It examines the complex journey from inherited circumstance to conscious agency. It acknowledges the anger, grief, aggression, resilience, and moral responsibility that accompanies breaking deeply established patterns. And ultimately, it distinguishes between having the power to perpetuate a cycle and having the power to end it. We may not get to choose what we inherit but we can choose what we pass on.
